The numbers behind it
How we work it out
We use a percentage of your dog’s current weight per day, the same general guideline most raw feeders follow.
Adults (1 to 7 years)
| Low activity | 2% |
|---|---|
| Normal | 2.5% |
| High | 3% |
| Working | 3.5% |
Seniors (about 7+)
| Low activity | 2% |
|---|---|
| Normal | 2% |
| High | 2.5% |
| Working | 3% |
Puppies (by age)
| 2 to 3 months | 8% |
|---|---|
| 4 to 5 months | 6% |
| 6 to 8 months | 5% |
| 9 to 12 months | 3.5% |
- Weight goals: to lose weight we take 0.5% off; to gain, we add 0.5% (kept between 1.5% and 4% a day).
- Puppies eat 3 meals a day, adults and seniors 2. If you add an expected adult weight, a puppy’s amount never goes over 3% of it.
- Months are counted as 30 days. One 10 lb bag is about 4.5 kg; one 40 lb bag is about 18 kg.
- Switching to raw? Go slowly over a week or so, mixing a little more raw in each day.
